A Drop of Water
Consider that we all refer to the river of life when we think of this life we live. It is interesting to note the Bible references water throughout, and refers to it as “washing clean.”
Consider the river of life as it compares to us:
It starts as a drop of water from the heavens.
That single drop of water seems insignificant in and of itself, but it has a purpose.
Water cleans.
Water picks up the small particles of matter that are not attached to anything. It will carry that small particle on its path, until circumstances cause the particle to be dropped off at it’s resting place.
One of our purposes in life then, (compared to water), is to find those that are not attached, not a part of something and take them to where they can be.
God is continually shaping the face of the earth. Drops of water are one of His tools to sculpt the beauty we see around us. We then, are a tool in the Hands of the Master used to sculpt out the world as He envisions it. The places we go, the things we do, the lives we touch – all influence the face of the world on a physical and a spiritual level.
Water nourishes and gives life. It is an essential ingredient in life. It is nice to know we are essential.
Water will return to the heavens from whence it came — sooner or later. Depending on the place it lands, it may just be taken back up. If that place has the circumstances, the single drop of water will start its journey until it is either taken up or meets with another drop of water. Upon meeting, two drops of water will join and the two will continue the journey as one. As the two encounter other drops or “couples”, they will join and continue as one. What we see then, is a flow of water on its way to its final destination.
As the water, (actually now waters), continues their journey there will be times of stillness where there is peace and rest. Those small particles, that have been carried along, may be dropped off to their destination. Then the journey will have areas of extreme turbulence and turmoil (whitewater rapids). We often think of this turmoil and turbulence as the troubles in life. What actually happens, is the little drop of water is simply moving more quickly to a new level — moving more quickly to that destination it is seeking. In that foamy white water, there is life giving oxygen mixed in with the waters. So then, the rough spots are actually times of rejuvenation.
All the while this rejuvenation is taking place, that little drop of water is carving away at the earth it is passing over. It is picking up particles to take to a new destination, thereby assisting the Master in His constant sculpting of this beautiful place we call Earth – the place He created for us to live and have our purpose. Those little drops of water are capable of splitting mountains!
These waters provide an environment for forms of life both plant and animal to exist, grow and reproduce and eventually die creating more particles to be taken to their destination. Endless cycles of life being facilitated by water as it journeys to its destination.
Eventually, water comes to it’s destination and joins all the waters of the earth and drops it’s final passengers to their destination. The sum of all waters provides a vast world for life to exist in it’s endless cycles of birth and death.
Water remains there until the Master calls it back to the heavens to begin a new journey. The little drop never dies or ceases to exist.
If we ever feel insignificant, remember the little drop. If we ever feel alone, it is only temporary. If we ever feel worthless, consider the little drop of water. There is purpose. We can “see” it if we open our eyes.
